CMT Copenhagen Metro Team is a multinational and multicultural venture, with more than 24 different nationalities working on 22 worksites. Each nationality present in CMT, either as subcontractors, suppliers, manpower companies, workers, brings to the project specific competences and skills.

In diversity we find our strength and this is the same principle that belongs to our leading company Salini Impregilo based in Italy – Rome and Milan – which is present now in 50 countries with roughly 34,400 employees.

Salini Impregilo , which was founded on January 1, 2014, combines the experiences of two well-established and consolidated companies: Salini and Impregilo. A player with great technical and financial capacity, with considerable ambitions and an industrial culture; whose fundamental purpose was the objective of combining two companies with a strong international vocation, able to compete on par with leading global players.

 

The common language we have in CMT  is English, but a lot of other mother tongues are spoken on the project with colleagues from Denmark, Poland, Italy, Greece, England, Romania, Scotland, Ethiopia, Portugal, Ireland, Slovakia, Germany, Spain and many others.

 

The fascination of working in such an international environment is that you get to establish connections with so many different work heritages and job competences that it ends with an overall enrichment of the project and the daily routine inside CMT, that is actually a big team of different players and individualities.

 

As it often is with international joint venture  of this size, it is common that workers come from many countries to work for a limited time – or as many do – for the whole period to see the project finish in 2019. With more than 90 subcontractors working constantly with us, CMT,  the tasks are many and the complexity is high. Therefore transparency and cooperation with all key stakeholders are vital. All workers in CMT must work according to the relevant collectives agreements covering the project, and it is vital that the collaboration and cooperation with the relevant unions are working on a professional level.

 

On three of the 22 sites today the danish union BJMF/3F have their own cabins, and a growing number of workers are members of the unions and we have a rising number of shop-stewards on the sites. This is beneficial for the whole project and CMT believe that transparency and good working conditions work hand in hand with efficiency and production.

 

CMT, as part of Salini Impregilo Group  is focusing on hiring enthusiastic and skilled personnel, sponsoring the young talents and encouraging them to spread their wings in great projects like ours. That is why we are part of Salini Impregilo major recruitment plan “100 Young Engineers: Tomorrow’s builders” that see the participation of 100 and talented engineers, with an average age of 26 and made up of 20% women.

 

The new recruits are offered the opportunity to gain experience in projects in Italy and abroad and to acquire the same skills of excellence of the resources already working at the construction sites.
